now, 11 students around the bay area are continuing protests at their college campuses in support of palestinian people amid israel's war on gaza. thank you for joining us for kron. 4 news at 11. i'm dan thorn today. encampments were recovering from the rain while preparing for what comes next. kron four's jack moment has more from san jose. well, some of the protests have been lasting for days. others weeks, but they're continuing to press forward here in the bay area. >> with students wanting their schools to divest or be transparent about their financial ties with the nation of israel. but it may be quiet here in san jose state's campus. but pretty soon it may have its own protest as well.

san jose's gearing up for graduation, but online, there's chatter about a pro-palestine protest happening on may. saw people next to help building just like painting a big sign. robert cleveland is graduating soon and says he supports the ongoing protests, possibly reaching his i feel like it needs to be it's not happening with the government. >> at >> i mean, we're we're the ones that contain everything. coming up, head north to palo alto. this group of students is on day 8 of a pro-palestine protest camp out on their campus. but i that everything's good posters soiled by the recent rain. but wooden pallets in tarps were able to keep students sleeping here last night. but friday evening, a counter-protester violated vigil of candles. students tell us they say police responded and took the counter protester away. kron 4 reached out to stanford pd but did not hear back and also give them some support for to know that other people also thinking about the moment live act lives in the area and

donated supplies to stanford students. she says her daughters are part of the student encampments around the country and wants things to go peacefully. really don't understand why we're fighting the students because all they're trying to ask for is for cease-fire back in san jose state. it's very like is very sad seeing it, especially when. >> the asked people. robert cleveland says he supports the cause of pro-palestine student protests have about about. >> i have. but my mom no, because you don't want and says he's looking forward to the possible protest this week. gen z and next group are going to be the future of the world, especially and we need to make a change now for not is not going to happen from the other san jose jack moment kron 4 news. >> officials report ucla police chief is facing scrutiny for how his department handled the on-campus violence last week. witnesses from tuesday's attacks in the pro palestinian encampments at ucla say it took 3 hours for authorities

happening in the weather to yeah, we so quite a lot of rain for >> 24 hours here. so we picked 2 inches there. and we also saw some special weather statements. >> so that's pretty late in the season here. some rain totals, a half moon bay reach an inch mount tam over 2 inches close to an inch in san francisco. so would be surprised. it's an inch by know, things are still tabulating santa rosa as well. san jose than half an inch there. but 0.7, 3 there. but you can see the activity is moving out of the region and now to the sierra where there is a winter storm warning out there. as you can see, snow showers pretty busy up in the high country. now the weather headlines for us will be the chilly temperatures. we're down 10 degrees than we were yesterday in santa rosa. 7 degrees down nevado and napa and livermore down 4 degrees and 6 degrees down in san jose. so you'll notice that in the overnight lows as we are sitting in the upper 40's and low 50's so close to upper

hours last night affecting thousands of bay area drivers. all lanes were back open as of this morning and the solano county district attorney's office is now handling the investigation. police arrest a man accused of striking someone in the head with a rifle in walnut creek. police say the attack happened back in march. the victim was found with a head wound believed to be from stock and of an assault rifle. the suspect was later identified as 28 year-old malcolm harris of sassoon city. this week, harris was found and arrested by police in las vegas. he's currently in the contra costa county jail. oakland police are offering a reward for anyone who has any information on 2 homicides that took place about a year apart. they believe these 2 cases may be connected. police say multiple suspects are connected to the homicide of henry tejada in deshaun roads. tejada was shot and killed on april 28th 2020 near foothill and church. the great 2020 nissan armada

without license plates was seen pulling up the takata before multiple people got out and shot him. he was 23 years old. the car was later recovered and determined to be a rental from reno, nevada. rhodes was also killed by gunfire on june 19th 2021. on lake shore and brooklyn right in front of lake merritt. anyone with information about either case is being asked to call oakland police. oakland. police are also increasing the number of officers on patrol this weekend. they're trying to prevent illegal sideshow activity for cinco de mayo. oakland police say during 2022 2023, the total 150 cars issued nearly 80. i citations and made several arrests. the city of san jose's gearing up for its annual cinco de mayo celebrations this weekend at the various a flea market friday. there was a de mayo party with low riders. the united lowrider council of san jose brought their cars out for just a preview of what you can expect to see tomorrow and

today flying colors, comics distributed thousands of free comic books. but as kron four's philippe djegal reports, this year's event is bittersweet because it's going to be the last one at this story. location. >> the countdown to free comic book day will culminate with a big batch of flying colors, comics and other cool stuff in concord saturday. may the 4th be with you. star wars so there may be some characters from a galaxy far, far away. will also be an emotional day for joe field and his loyal customers who have been shopping in his store since it opened 35 years ago. >> his leases up at the end of the year and he has not been offered or renewal. we hope there isn't a closing date. we hope that there's more of a transition day and that's what we're working towards as field explores options to settle down at another store front. he is proud of what his business has brought to the community how the free comic book event he found 23 years ago has spread worldwide.

can see dry over at sfo, decreasing clearing overnight and tomorrow it looks like we will be mostly sunny with some breezy conditions. we have a warming trend on the way. so wait to see the 7 day forecast because we're back in the 80's once again. here's our future cast model. so in about an hour, this is a midnight. you'll notice some spotty clouds here. but maybe some passing showers overnight by half moon bay and take a look at 06:00am and lunchtime. we look mostly clear. so we'll have the sunshine with us. and then the evening looks clear as well. so visibility wise will not be an issue. and monday also looks mostly clear as well. maybe some clouds, but it will be all about the winds. so as you make your way in the morning, you'll see numbers in the teens and 20's, particularly by the coast and then another pop over in the late afternoon. so 3 to 4 o'clock. you could see close to 30 miles an hour over by the coast. 20's, as you make your way inland. danville in livermore, seeing 22 miles per

hour and then the evening. so a breezy day, but we will be mostly sunny overnight lows, little cooler over in santa rosa. upper 30's will be waking up to the 40's and low 50's and also be warming up to the upper 50's and 60's. so we are, you know, not we're warming up, but where mostly dry for the rest of the week. and take a look at saturday week from now, maybe maybe 90. we'll see. but 86 in our inland valleys. that's a nice forecast, though. you know, sunny. stay hydrated. yeah. them where the sun block. and enjoy good advice. and yes, stay prepared for all right, kim, thank you for that. >> all right. the a's rolling to the american league winning 6 straight coming up next in sports, aaron wilson lets us know of little rain. rain put a damper on the a's hot streak.
